Somerset "thankful villages" get plaques

Hi Moonraker

I would guess that in the early years after the war it would have been considered an act of schadenfreude to celebrate the safe homecoming of all of a communties fighting men when many other villages might have seen a large proportion, possibly all (does anybody know of such communities?), of their young men killed.

There was a feature on BBC1's "One Show" earlier in the week where Carol Thatcher visited the village of Upper Slaughter which didn't lose any men in either the Great War or WWII.
