It says: Here repose 46 English soldiers of the Royal Middlesex Regiment. If anyone wonders why it uses the slightly archaic word repose, and why it refers to the Royal Middlesex Regiment when it was just the Middlesex Regiment, then the answer is that it was erected by the Germans. Whether the Royal was a misunderstanding or not, we dont know, said Andrew Stillman, 1914-18 project manager for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
