Dikke Bertha Posted 13 March , 2006 Share Posted 13 March , 2006 Hello I bought this book recently in Waterstones and although I am only 50 odd pages in I really like it so far. It deals with French strategy and operations in the Great War. I haven't seen it reviewed on the forum yet. Has anybody read it or got any views. Dikke Bertha Posted 13 March , 2006 Author Share Posted 13 March , 2006 Hello truthergw I'm afraid I do not have an opinion yet as I am only 50+ pages into it. The opening stages of the war is my main interest and I have to say that I have no regrets about this book so far. It says in the title that it deals with French strategy and operations and so far it is doing that rather than giving the usual details of the mobilisation of the BEF. I will let you know when I have finished the book which is over 500 pages long. I had hoped that others would have read it before me and have an opinion on it. paul guthrie Posted 13 March , 2006 Share Posted 13 March , 2006 It's a good book, lots about French Army you did not know and a fairly good account of French role in Somme battle which is hard to find in English.
