squirrel Posted 1 July , 2008 Share Posted 1 July , 2008 Saw this book, a collection of personal accounts, newspaper extracts, poetry and songs at half price and was wondering whether to buy it or not as I was familiar with some, although by no means all, of the contents. A typographical error made up my mind to have it. Ivor Novello's "Keep The Home Fires Burning", second verse, "Overseas there came a pleading, "Help a nation in distress", And we gave our glorious ladies Honour bade us do no less." Apart from this it is a good read with some familiar, but much unfamiliar, to me at least, items.
George Armstrong Custer Posted 1 July , 2008 Share Posted 1 July , 2008 "Overseas there came a pleading, "Help a nation in distress", And we gave our glorious ladies Honour bade us do no less." - I like it - try to placate the enemy by handing over our wimmin. I wonder what Flashman would have made of such a caddish strategy?
