Terry Carter Posted 28 February , 2004 Share Posted 28 February , 2004 Lance Bombardier James Alexander, No.151758, 88 Battery, 14th Brigade Royal Field Artillery, died 5 December, 1918, of pneumonia. A friend of mine has a collection of postcards written by him to his girlfriend and later his future wife, before and during the war. My friend has also made plans to visit his grave in France, later this year. James Alexander was a School Teacher, he was born in Hull, but he may have taught in Sheffield. The CWGC gave his wife's name as Elsie May Alexander and she lived at Grafton Street, Beverley Road, Hull. If anyone has any details of James Alexander, or what become of Elsie, that they may wish to pass on, I would be very grateful. many thanks Terry
Robert Dunlop Posted 28 February , 2004 Share Posted 28 February , 2004 died 5 December, 1918, of pneumonia. Just a thought but the pneumonia may well have been secondary to influenza - the Spanish Flu.
