David W Posted 21 September , 2008 Share Posted 21 September , 2008 Hi all I am trying to determine the events that led up to the death of A/Captain Roy Bowes MC of the 15th Batt Royal Welsh Fusiliers who I understand died of wounds on 5th August 1917 and is buried at Dozingham Cemetery. Any information much appreciated Cheers David
sotonmate Posted 21 September , 2008 Share Posted 21 September , 2008 David Kew has the 15 RWF War Diary under WO95/2556 for the period Dec 1915 to Feb 1918. If you can't get there you can pay for a download of 10 pages for 8.50, someone here might wish to share one or parts they have,or there might be a recommendation to read a specific book on the Bn. The problem with a download of the WD is that you don't know when he was wounded. He could have been at the Casualty Clearing Station for an unspecified number of days,or it could have been the day before his death. There might also be a Personal File for this Officer in the WO339 series at Kew. If he has only one initial of R it might be WO339/57815,or if under the initials RE WO339/38883.
