Ravrick Posted 29 September , 2008 Share Posted 29 September , 2008 Hi, I am researching a former member of 58 SB RGA who won a Miliitary Medal. He is 13435 Gnr D Conway, MM LG 06/01/17. Does any forum member know if there are any publications about 58 Bty and where they were during Oct/Nov 1917? Any help or guidance appreicated, Thanks Rick
ororkep Posted 29 September , 2008 Share Posted 29 September , 2008 Ravrick, The war diary for 58 SB (4 x 6 in Mk vii Guns) survives at NA ref WO95/389, and covers from their entry to the Western front in Apr 1916 through to Oct 1917. There is also a further smaller diary for part of 1918 held in the same box. There is a good action photograph of the battery guns out there in cyberspace from this period. From 8-9-17 they were with 4 HAG, and that diary records they were in the vicinity of MORCHIES ref 25d 7080. For the latter part of Oct the HAG was shelling Bullecourt in support of 16 Division. On 15-11-17 they left 4 HAG to join 17 HAG (III Corps). Rgds Paul
