ZackNZ Posted 21 October , 2008 Share Posted 21 October , 2008 I must recommend to all pals the above book written by Peter Rees – (Allen Unwin 2008 - ISBN 978 1 74175 549 7 (hbk)) absolutely brilliant!! Provides an emotive account of the sinking of the Marquette in October 1915. A must for interested and serious WW1 aficionados. You won’t be disappointed investing in this read! Puts a real human face on the war we don’t really see! Zack
frev Posted 22 October , 2008 Share Posted 22 October , 2008 Thanks for rubbing it in Zack - picked my copy up a couple of weeks back and am desperately trying to finish my present book so I can start on it................Frev
alliekiwi Posted 22 October , 2008 Share Posted 22 October , 2008 Oooh, thanks for letting us know about this book, Zack! I'd not heard of it but will add it to my list of 'must get that this weekend' purchases. (Thank goodness for birthday book-tokens I've not used.) The hubby's great uncle was on the Marquette with the medical corps, and was lucky to be one of the survivors. Allie
