I must recommend to all pals the above book written by Peter Rees – (Allen Unwin 2008 - ISBN 978 1 74175 549 7 (hbk)) absolutely brilliant!! Provides an emotive account of the sinking of the Marquette in October 1915. A must for interested and serious WW1 aficionados.

You won’t be disappointed investing in this read! Puts a real human face on the war we don’t really see!

Oooh, thanks for letting us know about this book, Zack! I'd not heard of it but will add it to my list of 'must get that this weekend' purchases. (Thank goodness for birthday book-tokens I've not used.) The hubby's great uncle was on the Marquette with the medical corps, and was lucky to be one of the survivors.
