By WW2 he was to affected by arthritis to serve again so he stayed in the coal mines. My paternal Grandfather, Thomas Arthur Jackson, was born in 1899. Nigel Marshall Posted 8 January , 2009 Share Posted 8 January , 2009 Hi, No prizes for me either. Dad's dad = born 1913 - L/Bdr on 25Pdrs during the 'other' war. Mum's dad = born 1895 - Rfn - Cpl 7th & 8th Leeds Rifles 1914 - 1919. His dad was born in 1861 and served with York & Lancaster Regt from 1879 - 1902 in Egypt, Bermuda, South Africa and England.
