The KNOTT Brothers

FRICOURT

Recommended Posts

Capt H B Knott was KIA on 7.9.1915 with the Northumberland Fusiliers and burried in Ypres. His brother Major J L Knott was KIA on 1.7.1916 at Fricourt with the 10th West Yorks and burried there. After the war the family had J L 's body moved to Ypres in a grave next to his brother.

Their father was Sir James Knott, 1st Bart and I notice he paid for both the Tower and the Bells in St Georges Church at Ypres. He must have had great influence.

Can anyone fill me in on the full stoy please.

Just to add that Major James Leadbetter Knott DSO was second in command of the 10th West Yorks.

His body was moved to be next to his brother at the family's insistence.
