Guest JONNO Posted 10 March , 2004 Share Posted 10 March , 2004 After the amazing resonse to my last request for info on an MC and trio to the RHA, I feel totally endebted but hopeful that someone can help me with similar info on a single MC that came into my possession some time ago to a Captain William Ernest Hill of the 19th Middlesex Regt (the cross is named and dated) It would seem that the MC was bestowed upon this gent for actions in Italy where he received a GSW to the abdomen. Who was this man and what was the function of his unit? Any help would be much appreciated. JONNO
bmac Posted 10 March , 2004 Share Posted 10 March , 2004 The 19th Middlesex (2nd Public Works) went to France in 1916 and were attached to the 41st Division as pioneers. They were sent to Italy in November 1917. That's as far as I can go I am afraid.
