unitedsound Posted 25 November , 2008 Share Posted 25 November , 2008 Can anyone advise me of the detail available in the above series of books? Is it just a list of names? Or is there more?

daggers Posted 25 November , 2008 Share Posted 25 November , 2008 Worth adding that a CD comprising all volumes of SDGW is available for sale, and also for consulting via A...y, though the latter seems to be have been somewhat garbled in transcription, so we hear. Tuntun Posted 29 April , 2010 Share Posted 29 April , 2010 Can anyone advise me where I might find a complete set of the SDGW books for public viewing in the North of England? Thanks Martin
Pighills Posted 29 April , 2010 Share Posted 29 April , 2010 Tuntun, if you google it you will come up with several places - notably Naval and Military Press, as well as Amazon (buy through the link on this forum and a small donation goes to its running). You do need to know however, that you can view these books anywhere in the world, not just the 'North of England'
Marco Posted 29 April , 2010 Share Posted 29 April , 2010 You do need to know however, that you can view these books anywhere in the world, not just the 'North of England' Which can not be said for the CD's! Regards, Marco
keithmroberts Posted 29 April , 2010 Share Posted 29 April , 2010 Some local studies libraries have the CD, and most have a subscription to Ancestry where the information is available on-line, as it is on FindMyPast. The latter is also available free at some local studies libraries. Keith
Tuntun Posted 29 April , 2010 Share Posted 29 April , 2010 Thanks for your replies, but what I actually meant to ask but didn't make myself quite clear was where can I view the actual books, rather than the CD. I have access to the records via the CD but just want to take a quick look at the originals (or copies of the originals); just for my own interest really! NeilEvans Posted 29 April , 2010 Share Posted 29 April , 2010 Martin, I have about 40-45 of the books. Is there a specific one you want? or any? If you pm me your address i'm more than happy to send one to you. Neil
stevem Posted 29 April , 2010 Share Posted 29 April , 2010 Hi Martin York Reference library holds the copies of Soldier's Died for Yorkshire Regiments (east, West, KOYLI etc), I think it is due to re-open at the end of May. Regards Steve
