Hi all,

My gt grandfather Samuel Sidebotham, pte, 1751, 1/7th LF was transferred to the RAOC. We believe that this happened after he was wounded, shot four times in the right leg, he did regain full use of the limb though.

His number in the RAOC was 022664, does this give any indication when he would have been transferred? We are trying our best to find this out as this would date the time of his wound and place him somewhere.

Samuel was then transferred again from the RAOC to the Border Regiment (battalion not stated on the MIC in the PRO). His number is 38926 can anyone tell us when he would have transferred into the Borders? How can we find out the battalion he served with?

Thanks for any help that you are able to provide,

The Bells
