Boland, Major, Lancashire Fusiliers

Hi all,

We are looking for a man with the surname Boland who served with the Lancashire Fusiliers in the war.

My gt grandfather (Samuel Sidebotham, 1751, pte, 1/7 LF) said that he pulled this man into the trenches from No Man's Land at some stage, we think that th eman was also wounded at the time. The two men used to meet up at the LF reunions after the war, and the above act was proven to be true when Boland's daughters said that they would not be here if it was not for Samuel.

We are very keen to hear from anyone who knows of this man Boland, Samuel always called him Major Boland, though he may not have held that rank during the war.

Any info is gratefully received,

Thanks,

The Bells

Good Evening,

Welcome to the Forum.

I checked the sirname Boland using the on-line Medal Index Card Service provided by the Public Records Office.

There are three men of this sirname that served in the Lancashire Fusiliers.

I don't know if any of these fit the bill however.

Regards,

Tim
