Guest Rob 1 Posted 13 March , 2004 Share Posted 13 March , 2004 As with a number of threads I have read, my Great Grandfather was killed in the region of Ypres in 1914. It would appear that he entered the battle and died almost immediately. I am interested in finding out about the command and control of the 2nd Bn, Manchester Regiment, at this time. Also the historical events leading up to the battle. My Great Grandfathers details are: DENNISON, WILLIAM Nationality: United Kingdom Rank: Private Regiment: Manchester Regiment Unit Text: 2nd Bn. Service No: 9503 Age: 26 Date of Death: 21/10/1914 Grave/Memorial Reference: Panels 34 and 35 Cemetery: LE TOURET MEMORIAL Thanks for any help. Annette Burgoyne Posted 13 March , 2004 Share Posted 13 March , 2004 Hi Rob 2/Manch were part of 14th Brigade, 5th Division at the time of your Great Grandfathers death. I think they were in the la Bassee area at the time. If no one else comes up with more detailed info I will look through my copy of official History tomorrow to see what they were doing at time (as long as I remember that is).
