sar2jec Posted 14 March , 2004 Share Posted 14 March , 2004 Hello, My Great Great Uncle, Pte Horace Howkins, was killed on the first day of the battle of Loos (25.9.1915) with the 12th Battalion Northimberland Fusiliers. I was wondering if anybody could give me any details of the battalions action that day or prehaps an idea of how many casualties there were. Any information would be most appreciated Many thanks, Jonathan
Chris_Baker Posted 14 March , 2004 Share Posted 14 March , 2004 There is very detailed coverage of the battle of Loos on the Long, Long Trail website. It gives answers to all of your questions. This link will take you there. Our great uncle Jim McSloy was in the 14th NF, and his first job in France was burying the casualties at Loos.
