Has anyone during the course of their research come across an individual who is listed somewhere on the CWGC Index's has having died in combat.Only to later find that they survived the war and actually died a civilian. If someone has come accross this how does it happen ??

Of course, this should not happen.

If any cases were found the name would be removed and I am sure several were so deleted in the inter-war years.

The same would happen nowadays if such an event were proved and so therefore, in theory, you should not be able to find such a name. If you have evidence of one, you should inform CWGC and provide the evidence.

There is another thread running on this subject at the moment
