Drover Posted 3 January , 2009 Share Posted 3 January , 2009 Just finished reading this recent book by WFA North of Scotland Branch Chairman Derek (Dickie) Bird. Can recommend it as an excellent read. A good balance between the strategic 'big picture', the detailed movements and actions of the battalion and the experiences of the individual 'ordinary' men who performed extraordinary deeds between 1914 and 1919. Over 175 photos, drawings and maps on the 238 page A4 softback. http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/wfasnb/research05.htm Drover
charlesmessenger Posted 3 January , 2009 Share Posted 3 January , 2009 I have received a copy, but as yet only had the chance to browse through it. I do have a personal interest in this battalion on account of my late father-in-law having served in it prior and during WW2. Many of the names mentioned are from well known Moray families. It does therefore have much of interest in it and Derek is to be much congratulated. Charles M
