Just finished the book Scottish Voices and would recommend it to anyone with an interest in the Scottish regiments in the Great War.

with quotes from over eighty men from letters and diaries,it gives you the story from enlistment to the full no holds bard horror of the trenches only 240 pages but worth the money.p.s only my opinion.

I thought it very good too, the quote that sticks in my mind was the soldier witnessing his first ever bloodshed when a colleague blew his own head off with a Mills bomb. What an introduction.

I enjoyed it too, am still waiting on reply from author, one of the men may be one I am researching.

Am sure I read a thread that wasn't too kind to this type of approach, ie put the letters in a book and wait for the cheque. I think that's a bit unfair in this case , at least, he seems to have sourced a lot of good stuff.
