Private Butler Posted 15 February , 2009 Share Posted 15 February , 2009 Quite expensive for the amount of information held but some interesting things I didn't know. There are some excellent photos in this book (including one of the tanks, fascines attached on the railway cars at Plateau, Cambrai) and for an afternoon's work you could read worse, although it is pricey, I thought, at £9.95. I think for most serious students of the GW you could find better but as a general overhaul of the subject it is, as with all Osprey's work, greatly enhanced with the diagrams. Perhaps somebody with more of an engineering background may gain more from the open-spread of the tank under construction at John Brown and Co, in Clydeside. Some readers may find that New Vanguard 100, the Mark I version, may aid knowledge of the progression that is the Mark IV given the status of the Mark II and III as temporary solutions to the need for more tanks at a time when the Mark IV was still being developed. My verdict? If you're feeling a bit flash...go on.
