Chris_Baker Posted 28 March , 2004 Share Posted 28 March , 2004 Hello Sapper, welcome to the forum. Your great uncle's records should be obtainable from the National Archives of Australia. Try their website: here.
salientpoints Posted 28 March , 2004 Share Posted 28 March , 2004 Hi Sapper, You might also want to read the informative Pen & Sword title 'Hill 60' (Ypres) ISBN 0850525594 Ryan
Andrew P Posted 29 March , 2004 Share Posted 29 March , 2004 You might also want to check out the embarkation rolls of the 1st Tunnelling Company on the Australian War Memorial Website. http://www.awm.gov.au Look for it in the biographical database and under nominal rolls. If you know his service number this would help as apart from the original embarkation of the 1st Tunnelling Company, the 4th Tunnelling Company which was formed later was broken up to supply men to the 1st, plus the were also general mining reinforcement groups to the Australian Tunnelling Companies. Good Luck Andrew
