Paul Reed Posted 31 March , 2004 Share Posted 31 March , 2004 Any info on this unit welcome, particularly what guns they were equipped with. I know they were part of II Army from around 1917 onwards.
rflory Posted 31 March , 2004 Share Posted 31 March , 2004 154 Siege Battery went out to the Western Front on 30 Aug 16, armed with four 9.2 Howitzers. On 3 Sep 16 it joined 12th Heavy Artillery Group (HAG). It transferred to 56 HAG on 8 Jan 17; to 17 HAG on 18 Feb 17; to 32 HAG on 4 Mar 17; back to 17 HAG on 21 Mar 17; to 12 HAG on 24 Mar 17;and to 86 HAG on 4 Sep 17. On 22 Dec 17 it joined 43 Heavy Artillery Brigade, RGA and remained with that unit until the end of the war. It was made up to six guns in August 1918 with personnel who joined from 398 Siege Battery. The battery's war diary for the period Apr 17 to Jan 18 is at WO95/321. The war diaries for the remaining period have not been traced. Regards. Dick Flory
