Guest thiepval Posted 1 April , 2004 Share Posted 1 April , 2004 Hello I found out that this Battalion was in France and also know which Brigade and Division it was attached too. A serving relative, Andrew M Barr was killed on 28 Aug 1918 and we know where he lies. I'm trying to find any information about which Battle or location. Someone in the family suggested the Battle of the Scarpe but its all a bit vague. Anybody help with this? Thanks Thiepval
Chris_Baker Posted 2 April , 2004 Share Posted 2 April , 2004 Battle of the Scarpe is right. I don't have a battalion or (%2nd) Div history - I am sure others do - but can tell you from the Official History that on 24 August their Brigade was in action at Henin Hill (on the Hamelincourt-Heninel ridge). In all probability this was still the case a few days later.
Tim Godden Posted 4 April , 2004 Share Posted 4 April , 2004 I have a copy of the Div history that I will have a look through in a few days when I am back in England. All the best, Tim
