Has Anyone Heard of Duke of Francis' Yeomanry?

I recently acquired a nice trio of medals to 178 Pte. Frank Crossley, 2nd Canadian Division Cyclists, who was born in Manchester but had been working in Canada when the war broke out. His CEF attestation papers indicade that he had some previous service with the militia, in a unit called the Duke of Francis' Yeomanry. I had never heard of this unit. Anyone have any information on it?

Is it possible that the Francis could be a badly written Lanc's for Duke of Lancaster's Yeomanry? This being a British Yeomanry Regiment recruiting in the Manchester area (where its HQ was) with the possibility that your man served in it before his move to Canada.

Teapots,

Right you are. I had a suspicion that it was the Duke of Lancs Yeomanry,. but even the previous owner had recorded it as Francis. Appointment with the optician coming up!

Mark,

From the attestation paper it looks like he was only twenty when he enlisted in 1914, so I assume it wasn't him for the TEM. Perhaps a father or brother???
