Gordon Caldecott Posted 6 April , 2004 Share Posted 6 April , 2004 Can anyone tell me what other units served in the Rosieres area, during the Great War. Any information would be of great interest and help, in my research of this area of the Western Front. War Diarys etc. Anything at all.
Annette Burgoyne Posted 6 April , 2004 Share Posted 6 April , 2004 Hi Gordon The 8th Division were at Rosiers from 27th-28th March, sorry can't tell you more. Annette
Paul Reed Posted 6 April , 2004 Share Posted 6 April , 2004 I think you'll find that most of the British units in this area would have been fighting the retreat in March 1918; rather than being involved in the August 1918 battle, which was largely CEF and AIF in this sector. There were some British Tank Corps and Heavy Artillery units attached to the Canadian Corps, and possibly Monash's Corps as well.
Borden Battery Posted 6 April , 2004 Share Posted 6 April , 2004 Check out the following report for some indication of British units operating with CEF forces: OFFICIAL HISTORY OF THE CANADIAN ARMY IN THE FIRST WORLD WAR CANADIAN EXPEDITIONARY FORCE 1914-1919 By COLONEL G.W.L. NICHOLSON, C.D. http://www.forces.gc.ca/hr/dhh/publication...ine_e.asp?cat=6 From this website you can download a 600+ page report.
