Recommend a good reference book about the Royal Engineers

As I get deeper into my research of R.E. men, it'd be nice a have a good reference book handy on Engineer units. Our "Long Long Trail" section is great but appears to missing some chunks of information. I realize the R.E. was a huge corps with a lot of units ... is there any book that addresses all of them, for instance to find what exactly was the 28th Field Company or the 553rd (Abedeen) Works Company and what larger units were they attached to and where they came from. I'd be grateful for any help.

The Royal Engineer Museum has a good selection of books, including the History of the RE Vol 1-10 by Maj Gen Porter.

Not sure if you have seen them, book list on the web site.
