unitedsound Posted 30 July , 2009 Author Share Posted 30 July , 2009 Got the book yesterday and it looks great. Really enjoyed the sections on Hooge & Bellewarde which I read last night. Also some fantastic aerials which I had not seen before. kudos to the tippers David
Mick D Posted 30 July , 2009 Share Posted 30 July , 2009 David, you will probably like the sister volumes, on the Somme and The Western Front, I like all three ! Mick
unitedsound Posted 30 July , 2009 Author Share Posted 30 July , 2009 I'll definitely keep that in mind Mick, thanks. I was thinking about your previous post when I saw the 60's photograph of the lane which leads to Potijze cemetery. Totally different now. If I remember correctly the entrance to the Buttes at Polygon Wood has changed too as the stairs are no longer at the end of the pathway, but around the corner. Still interesting to see images from any era however. One other thing stood out like a sore thumb and that was the cleanliness of the headstones now versus the sixties. It looks to me like the CWGC have done a great job in recent years. David
