Only informationI have about my Grandfather's military service is a wedding

certificate ( Glasgow 1918 ) where noted as his occupation

was ..............."machine gunner". Both my Grandparents were born in Glasgow.

I recall he being wounded ( twice ) but was not discharged because of the injuries.

Advice as to the next step would be greatly appreciated. I'm in Sydney.

Thank you.

Peter,

Welcome to the forum. If you post your Grandfather's full name, one of the MGC experts may be able to help you.

Myrtle, tks for your prompt reply. Details from the marriage certificate of my Grandparents ( District of Calton, Glasgow, 6/3/1918) state the following as read-:

Charles McGurk ( full name ! ) -- Foundary Labourer -- Private: Machine Gun Corps. Age: 23

Residence: 25 Rumford St; Glasgow.

Married at : 17 Montieth St; Glasgow.( residence or Church address ??? )

Thin pickings I know !!

Look forward to your organisation's advice.

Thank you. Peter.

Just bringing this to the top in case it has been overlooked by someone with information. By the way the organisation is Chris Baker's. If you have not seen it yet, his website The Long Long Trail is well worth checking for information on researching your Grandfather.

Regards

Myrtle
