Anyone got an idea what the 11th Battn Loyal North Lancs were doing in or around Brentwood August 1915?

I have a burial in a local church and wondered how he ended up there.

He may have been a local man brought home for burial after dying elsewhere in the UK or he could have died in a nearby hospital.

His burial there does not necessarily mean that his regiment was stationed locally.

The 11th Loyals were based at Billericay in Essex from June to October 1915. It was raised at Felixstowe and never even saw Lancashire during it's existance!

Johnny that looks like it thanks...

One question though it looks like even if you died at home you would not necessarily be buried at home... can understand for overseas.. but my man here actually came from Liverpool

Maybe the family couldn't afford the transport costs to bring his body home. It's not that unusual.

(PS. is it James Nicholson?)
