wellsms Posted 18 April , 2004 Share Posted 18 April , 2004 Hi, My great grandfather (left in picture), William Wells (serv no 549 2/2nd East Lancs RAMC), was never posted overseas. Having enlisted on 25th November 1914, he was discharged on 20th November 1916 having caught TB from the men he nursed. His discharge papers say he was a Nursing Orderly. He died on 18th February 1921 after just over 4 years of ill-health. He was awarded a Silver War Badge on 11th January 1917. He was a member of the local (Padiham, Lancs) War Pensions Committee from it's formation and represented the district on the Central Committee. He was also a founder member of the discharged soldiers' movement on Padiham. Does anyone know the movements of this Field Hospital, or the hospitals they worked at? Thanks Mike
