brendangiffen Posted 7 August , 2009 Share Posted 7 August , 2009 While researching my great grandfather (Pvt John Frizell 61146 RAMC) I have become facinated by his unit the 13th field ambulance. So far I know he died of wounds on 27 August 1916. His unit was attached to the 13th battalion of the 5th Division. I am particularly interested in the unit between Oct 1915 and late August 1916. As Im from Belfast I am unable to visit Kew, although I have ordered some of the units war diaries. Is there a quick way of finding out if his war service record survived the Blitz? Someone kindly sent me his MIC record and I have found great info from CWGC. Im now looking to take the next step! Any info would be much appreciated. Just ask some kind soul with an Ancestry subscription to check if your GGF's service record survived.
