Guest Posted 22 April , 2004 Share Posted 22 April , 2004 I'm researching a relative killed on 3rd August 1918 while serving with the 10th Bn Lancashire Fusiliers. Robert Garbutt SHERWOOD Pvte 50103 He joined under false details and his correct name was Robert Sherwood GARBUTT. All existing records, which were destroyed, have been checked at the PRO, but his medals show him as serving with the above regiment. What has thrown the spanner in the works is we have a photo of him taken on leave in a uniform clearly displaying the insignia of the Sherwood Foresters. He has also been awarded the 'MG' and marksman qualification. The regimental museum of the Foresters have no records at all of him serving with that regiment. Can anyone assist with an explanation as to his service in another regiment not being recorded.
