DavoT Posted 2 September , 2009 Share Posted 2 September , 2009 Hi all, I'm currently reading this book and finding it fascinating so far. Has anyone else read it and what did you think? Cheers, David

Philip Wilson Posted 2 September , 2009 Share Posted 2 September , 2009 Its an excellent book - first published in 2007 ISBN 13 978 0 00 721459 4. Three good maps - Western Front 1916-18, The Somme 15th September 1916 and Cambrai 20 November 1917. Good selection of photos - 43 Chapters, an Afterword, including notes on Sources and a decent Index. A good use of contempoarary diaries and letters. Contains 4 pages by way of Select Bibliograhpy and 24 pages expanding on footnotes. Very readable indeed - 'definately one to read in the hedgerow on a sunny summer afternoon,' along with 'The Tank Corps' by William Ellis. Electronic books in virtual libraries may have their advantages but try reading two or more electronic books at the same time! Philip
DavoT Posted 3 September , 2009 Author Share Posted 3 September , 2009 Hi David, Try this: http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/i...amp;hl=brigands Hi Jeremy and Philip, thanks for that. My book has a slightly different cover to that one but all the same the book certainly goes into the nuts and bolts of it all. Well worth having as a resource on the old bookshelf.
