RFA - relationship of Brigade to Division

Does anybody know how a member of the RFA would have related to the division his brigade was attached to ? Would he have identified with the motto, tradition etc. of the XXth Division, or would his identification have been solely with his Battery and Brigade ?

thanks,

Rod

In my experience, more to the battery than brigade or division. D battery 245th Brigade RFA were a TF howitzer unit raised mainly from Ilkley, D bty. 246th Brigade RFA were a TF howitzer unit from nearby Otley and the ammunition column was originally raised from Burley. So local roots ran deep at the bty. level.
