Guest John Morrison Posted 24 April , 2004 Share Posted 24 April , 2004 I have been researching my great uncle , who was killed in siossons 26th May 1918, and have recentl come across his medals and memorial plaque. I did access something on this forum a few days ago but can't find it now. The plaque has the number 85 between the lions rear leg and tail, but does not have WA on the other side. Any comments. His details are pte John Caesar Cubbon 204961 , 11th Bn., Lancashire Fusiliers Died 27th May 1918 No known grave. Memtioned in memorial at Soissons
Guest Pete Wood Posted 24 April , 2004 Share Posted 24 April , 2004 Welcome to the forum, John The mark should be there, but it is very(!) small and can often be erased if it has been polished. Anyway, it is a Woolwich-made plaque. If you look at this thread on memorial plaques it will tell you if you have a wide H plaque, or the less common narrow H plaque. Add your details there, please, including which medals you have (and if you have the scroll that accompanied the plaque). Thanks
