JonathanS Posted 26 April , 2004 Share Posted 26 April , 2004 hi, I'm currently researching my relatives who served during WWI. So far I have been quite successful. However, one of my great grandfathers William Scotland has me somewhat stumped. I have searched his attestation papers on the National Archives, however the unit listed is not legible. Given that his regimental number is listed I searched the regimental list in hopes that i could find the respective War Diaries. Unfortunately I cannot decipher the short hand. could somebody please explain what the following means? M.D.3-C.E.Trg.Dpo#2 Cable Sec(tion?) my guess is that it stands for Military District #3 Canadina Engineers, Training Depot #2 ? if so what is a Military District. If not, what does this mean? thanks, Jonathan
