armourersergeant Posted 26 April , 2004 Share Posted 26 April , 2004 Do you have any of General officers who were killed in 1914. The likes of Hamilton and Fitsclarence to name two who fell. Would be grateful. Arm.
Ed Matthews Posted 26 April , 2004 Share Posted 26 April , 2004 Thanks for that Yorts. For Captain the Hon W.A. Cecil, 2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards, the following from the Regimental History (Ponsonby): "One of the Battalion's much regretted losses this day was Captain the Hon W.A. Cecil. He had been in the thick of every engagement since the start, and had gained a great reputation in the past three weeks for the effective way in which he handled the machine-guns. On more than one occasion his keenness had led him into very dangerous corners, and it was while he was reconnoitring for a good position for his machine guns that he was killed." Killed in Action at the Aisne, 16 September 1914. Ed
