Guest Warburton Posted 29 April , 2004 Share Posted 29 April , 2004 Does anyone have information about the executions of Pte A Troughton and Pte A Penn 1st Bn Royal Welsh Fusiliers. I know they were both 'shot at dawn' for desertion on 22/4/1915, being buried in a joint grave at Estaires Communal Cemetery. Have looked in the books Blindfold and Alone and Shot at Dawn - but both have no details on these soldiers. Can anyone help? Thanks warburton

Muerrisch Posted 30 April , 2004 Share Posted 30 April , 2004 Penn disembarked with 1RWF 6 Oct 1914, number 10958 and therefore not a recalled reservist and not a special reservist. Troughton likewise, 10853. Both on Medal Roll 1914 star which records "no medal" and says "shot, desertion"
