Guest DavidTennant Posted 30 April , 2004 Share Posted 30 April , 2004 I have been told there is a book on Gallipoli, I think the title mentioned was "The Great Gamble" or words to that effect which I have not been able to locate on Google. I am interested as apparently there is a mention of a forebear of mine in the book, Seaman James Skitmore. Any leads much appreciated. MartinWills Posted 30 April , 2004 Share Posted 30 April , 2004 I think the book you atre looking for is "The Immortal Gamble" The Immortal Gamble and the Part Played in it by H.M.S. "Cornwallis" A. T. Stewart & C.J.E. Peshall London. A.& C. Black. 1917 I would say that a fair price is probably around £25, but the bookseller below has one for around £15 at the moment, so if you find one at that price now is the time to buy. HMS Cornwallis was unique in that it served throughout the Gallipoli campaign. The book is a good read. I suggest you try St Mary's Books & Prints - Mr Marcus Tyers 9 St Mary's Hill, Stamford, Lincolnshire, PE9 2DP, United Kingdom (GB) Tel: 01780 763033 Fax: 01780 763033 Email: orders@stmarysbooks.com URL: www.stmarysbooks.com Who have a copy advertised at the moment Good Luck Martin
