lilley Posted 2 May , 2004 Share Posted 2 May , 2004 My Great Uncle was with the 7th Royal Berkshire Battalion. I have been led to believe that while he was in Salonika he was kicked in the head by a mule and died. I have read the war diaries for the 7th Battalion, on the 21st Dec 1916 it states that an OR was killed accidentally by a mule. Could anyone tell me what OR stands for? and also would I be able to trace if this was actually my great uncle. Thanks
Ken Lees Posted 2 May , 2004 Share Posted 2 May , 2004 Lilley, OR = Other Rank (as opposed to an Officer) According to 'Soldiers Died in the Great War', Elias Arnold was the only man of the battalion to die on 21/12/16, so I would be pretty sure that it is him.
