neutrino Posted 16 November , 2009 Share Posted 16 November , 2009 This is a book by John Masters. Of the nearly 400 pages about 100 are about WW1 in a fictional sense. But the book is very good and as I've mentioned Masters on here before I have to mention him again. He's a very very good writer IMO and worth searching out for his books in local libraries. I'm just starting his WW1 trilogy beginning with Now God be thanked. BTW I find the search option on here impossible for me to use as when I search for say Far Far the mountain peak I get a whole list of posts containing the word the. Where am I going wrong? CGM Posted 16 November , 2009 Share Posted 16 November , 2009 Hello neutrino, Try using " " (i.e. search for "Far Far the Mountain Peak") with the Search button on the Top RH side of the screen. I don't think this works with the Beta Search on the LH side though? Maybe because the words are only in the title? Regards CGM I've put a question about this on the Beta Search thread. neutrino Posted 16 November , 2009 Author Share Posted 16 November , 2009 Thanks. I'll give that another go. I did try it before but hadn't cleared my cache which may have effected the result. Thanks, seems to work now, but not always.

If I may, however, can I ask that the use of modern acronyms be limited. I believe that IMO stands for 'in my opinion' but I have no idea what BTW may represent. (It will probably be very obvious, if you can enlighten me and other readers of this post) It is, in my opinion, by the way, that most users of the GWF are of a generation that admires the correct usage of the english language and sometimes find it hard to deal with the fast pace of sms abbreviations. I intend no offence and hope that I will enjoy the books that you have referred. Regards Pop (Sean McManus) ps. u may RSVP asap SMcM )

neutrino Posted 17 November , 2009 Author Share Posted 17 November , 2009 BTW = By the Way if in doubt just make it up most of us do! Thanks for the pre empt. I notice that now with my number of postings I've been made an 'Old Sweat'. Quite relevant as I've been retired for 10 years. Had a mobile phone once for 6 months 12 years ago, but ditched it as found that I was always available for contact from the office. Never sent an SMS in my life.
