Guest bluejacket Posted 3 May , 2004 Share Posted 3 May , 2004 I am researching the background to an event which must have occurred, at 223 Siege Battery, in the second half of 1917 which resulted in the award of a MM. I know that the Battery was attached to 70th HAG from 20/6/1917 having transferred from 51 HAG the month before. It was again transferred to 4th HAG from 24/10/17 until the Armistice. During this period Sjt A. REA, (No. 138243) was awarded the Military Medal (Gazetted 2/4/1918) but unfortunately his personal papers, including citation, were destroyed during WWII. I have his medal and photograph and wish to pass them to my son who has expressed an interest in joining the RA. It would be superb, in the absence of the citation, to know what was happening in the Battery at about the time of the award.
