Chris_Baker Posted 27 February , 2003 Share Posted 27 February , 2003 I agree with that. 1929 = Regimental number P.T.E actually Pte, meaning his rank of Private A.S.FREE his name 25 – LOND.R. = 1/25th (County of London) Cyclist Battalion, the London Regiment. Reorganised as infantry in December 1915, and moved to India in teh following February, where it then remained. The London Regiment was all Territorial Force. Middlesex (Cyclist) Rifle Volunteer Corps being the first Battalion to be completely composed of cyclists. The Batt. joined the Rifle Brigade as one of its Volunteer Battalions and in 1908 became 25 Bn. London Regt The Battalion arrived in India 25.2.16 served on the NW Frontier 1917 and Afghanistan 1919 leaving India for the UK in Oct. 1919. In 1920 converted To 47 Div.
