chris basey Posted 4 May , 2004 Share Posted 4 May , 2004 In previous discussion on the oldest soldier from WW1, I can't remember if these two have been mentioned together. They are both buried in Norwich Cemetery: 4124 Private R.H.BALL, 2nd/5th Bn Norfolk Regiment died 5 September 1915 age 73 Captain (Quartermaster) George William Valentine CLEMENTS 1st Royal Dragoons died 3 March 1916 age 85 Does anyone know their stories? Andrew Hesketh Posted 4 May , 2004 Share Posted 4 May , 2004 You probably already know this, but... Clements is not listed on SDGW but CWGC states "Long Service and Good Conduct Medal. Son of the late William and Charlotte Clements, of Norwich; husband of Jane Elizabeth Clements, of 3, Chapel Field North, Norwich. Served in the Crimean War, 185356 (Alma, Balaklava, Inkerman and Sebastopol) and Turkish Medal." Robert Henry Ball is in SDGW (died, home, 5/9/15, enlisted Norwich - actually, date of death is transcribed as 5/9/515!)
