love4history Posted 3 December , 2009 Share Posted 3 December , 2009 Hello gents I just saw a picture of a group of WWI gunners at work. On the anvil in the picture was written 505 RFA Does anyone know what this would refer to? I suppose it's a unit but I'm not that up to speed on RFA and I can't seem to find any reference to a number 505 either ? Thanks for the help cheers from Flanders l4h
River97 Posted 3 December , 2009 Share Posted 3 December , 2009 I would say that the photo is of a group of gunners from the 505th Battery, 65th Brigade, 12th Division. There are 16 of them listed on the CWGC Debt of Honour. There is a wonderful link here from the Long, Long Trail on the history of the Division. Cheers Andy.
