MichaelBully Posted 13 December , 2009 Share Posted 13 December , 2009 In 1946 German writer ( though living in Switzerland since 1919) Herman Hesse won the Nobel Prize for Literature and in the same year an anthology of his writing titled 'If The War Goes On' was published. Most of the book concerns articles opposed to the Great War originally published in a German magazine titled ' Neue Zurcher Nachrichten' during the War itself. Hesse relinquished his German citizenship and his work was to be banned by the Third Reich. I have just received the book via Amazon. Any other German anti-war writings that people have read or have heard about? - apart from 'All Quiet on the Western Front' ? Any information appreciated.
