These put recruits through a seven month course of training before they were posted to field companies and other units. Did this system continue after mobilisation? Was there a reservoir for all of the Army Reservists who had been produced by short service (3 with colours, 9 Army Reserve) enlistments enjoyed by so many sappers before the war?
