souvigny Posted 8 May , 2004 Share Posted 8 May , 2004 HELLO, I HAVE FOR YEARS THIS ORIGINAL VC PORTRAIT IN MY COLLECTION. IS THIS SOLDIER COULD BE SIDNEY JAMES DAY, 11 BN THE SUFFOLK RGT, VC AT THE EAST OF HARGICOURT, 26 AUGUST 1917? (NOT SURE, MY OWN SEARCH)? THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP. Terry_Reeves Posted 8 May , 2004 Share Posted 8 May , 2004 Welcome to the forum Souvigny. There is every chance that this is Cpl Day. The website The Register of the Victoria Cross has a picture of the Suffolks only other WW1 VC winner, Arthur Frederick Saunders and it is definitely not the same man. Anthony Pigott Posted 8 May , 2004 Share Posted 8 May , 2004 It appears to be identical to a picture of him in the regimental history. Anthony
