ROYAL ARTILLERY VC

Hello again,

after the success of my last question, I take the liberty to ask you one more time your help about a soldier portrait in my collection: This Royal Field Artillery sergent wears a ribbon on his jacket. Is this ribbon a VC one? His name inscribed on the back says: Sergent John E. Jones, January 1915.

Thank you for your help.

I can not find a man of that name among the RA VCs. I think it is much more likely the ribbon of the Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal which was plain crimson until 1917. Regards. Dick Flory
