souvigny Posted 14 May , 2004 Share Posted 14 May , 2004 Hello, I am looking for all information about captain Alan Mc K. Fleming, MC; The only thing I know is that captain Fleming was a 2nd lieutnant in the Bedford regiment in 1914. Thank you for your help.
charlesmessenger Posted 14 May , 2004 Share Posted 14 May , 2004 As at 31 December 1919 he is shown as a temporary Lt in the Service bns of the Beds & Herts Regt. Besides his MC, he was also Mentioned in Despatches on 31 May 1916 and 15 June 1916. He therefore joined up after the outbreak of war and ontained a temporary commission, rather than being a Regular soldier. Charles M
souvigny Posted 15 May , 2004 Author Share Posted 15 May , 2004 Thank you Charles, Do you know if there is a website about t WW1 MC, or officer careers? laurent
charlesmessenger Posted 15 May , 2004 Share Posted 15 May , 2004 Laurent There is no website, to my knowledge, which covers officers' careers. You will be able to find out something about his MC by looking at the London Gazette website. However, the search engine on it is not the easiest to operate - see London Gazette threads on this forum. Examination of the Army Lists over the period 1914-1919 will give you his dates of promotion. Fleming also has a personal file (WO 339/41343) at the National Archives, Kew, which should provide further information. Charles M
